Colorectal Surgery | Diverticulitis
Are you experiencing severe pain on the left side of your lower abdomen and perhaps even a fever? If so, you should definitely have this checked out by a doctor.

In most cases, this is a condition known as diverticulitis. This occurs when the colon mucosa protrudes and becomes inflamed due to weak connective tissue. Depending on the degree of inflammation, the disease can be treated with medication or a change in diet. If the disease is already advanced, laparoscopic or robot-assisted therapy is necessary in most cases.
Should a suspected colorectal cancer be confirmed, the affected tissue can often be removed laparoscopically or robot-assisted. The advantages of the latter method include less post-operative pain, faster recovery, and an earlier return to a normal diet. In principle, the prognosis for colorectal cancer is very good – provided it is detected early and surgically removed promptly.
